Randy Johnson, will throw out the first pitch at the home opener at Safeco Field on April 12.
The move is a nice gesture by the organization toward their former ace, who didn't always have the best relationship with team management during and after his departure in 1998.
It also shows Johnson has no hard feelings toward Seattle, opening the door to future collaborations. The 6-foot-10 pitcher is an obvious candidate for the Mariners Hall of Fame, for instance. Players are eligible for induction into that small club two years after their retirement.
